Queen Crescent and Hot Lunch Rock The Hemlock

Record Store Day had me at the Hemlock filming Queen Crescent and Hot Lunch…

It took eight years of RECORD STORE DAY to happen before it finally hit my radar. Don’t misunderstand me, I love vinyl and have more then most people, but just never knew there was a day specifically for buying records. On paper, kind of feels like Go Skate Day, like you don’t really need to tell me to go do these things. But for those of you that are ignorant on what it is, here’s a brief descripton:

Record Store Day is an annual event, founded in 2007, held on the third Saturday of April each year to to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store. The day brings together fans, artists, and thousands of independent record stores across the world. A number of records are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, and are only distributed to shops participating in the event.

Inspiration, I think we all know what that is. Anyway, I must have been inspired last night. Look at all this god damn text! Eric called me up last minute to come out and shoot some video of Hot Lunch at the Hemlock for an upcoming Scion deal they got going. What he didn’t mention was that it was RECORD STORE DAY and that QUEEN CRESCENT was opening. Needless to say, my Saturday had me out past my bedtime enjoying some kick ass tunes with some friends at an old stomping ground. Ok enough text, here’s some photos and video I shot…

Melissa warming up the pipes before the show…

“We are Queen Crescent…”

She who shreds, Andrea…

Token drummer shot goes to Amy Martinez, welcome to the Trife…

Marisela Guizar on bass…

Imagine if Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull had four daughters that all lived in the Oakland Bay Area heavily influenced by proggy space-rock and formed a kick ass band I bet they’d name it QUEEN CRESCENT…

Almost forgot to mention it was big night for the headliners, HOT LUNCH who were filming a Scion video for their new song, Slappy Sundays…

Doubt the video will have lazors, but you better believe Aaron does…

True or False, Rob and Charlie use pizza to fuel their high energy set???

Please do not pay attention to that GOPRO filming the drummer, it’s only for song number one, we promise…

Lazors part deux…

Said it before and Ill say it again, ROB KICKS ASS!!!

Can’t wait to see that Scion video boys, GoPro cam footage looks amazing. My apologies to Planes of Satori(second band) for missing your set, I got caught talking Game of Drones with Mr. Indorf.
